One of my favorite Monday activities is shopping. Call me cliche, but after a relaxing weekend, it pains me to face another strenuous week ahead; I seldom look forward to Mondays for this reason, so I’ve devised a plan to counteract the blues. Spending virtual dollars not only satisfies a shopping urge, it eases a bit of pocket strain as you may not be spending as much as you would in a real life trip; what could be more relaxing?
For today’s therapy session, I headed to the beautifully developed Fashion Esplanade, owned by Estelle Parnall. She has a signature store on the strip, as well as other venues in progress as you walk down the delicately designed resort town. A fan of fine craftsmanship, I happened to pick up a few things, and met friends along the way! Here’s a few snaps of my trip:

Sometimes in virtual worlds you enter a state of suspended reality; that is, you leave the planes of both virtual and real, and exist in an alternate sense of being. I’ve experienced this many times, sometimes feeling the pain, hurt, anguish, or happiness of my avatar, although its an inanimate object controlled by my sensibilities.
Today, I was able to feel the crunch of freshly fallen snow and the stillness of winter; I closed my eyes and felt the sting of cold as I sauntered through Cloud City’s new area, Sakura Village. The beauty of this scene is something that is hard to capture in a virtual world, but I think that Cloud et al hit the mark dead on. I tried to capture the essence of what I was experiencing my outfit shot of the day.

So, I thought I’d make a little blog about fashion in Blue Mars.
Yup- its in super early beta, and the stuff won’t be as “good” as things made in other virtual worlds that have been around for years, but you know what? The people who make clothing and accessories are some absolutely fantastic people, and it takes a bevy of skills to make once piece. 3D modeling, texturing, and more; the artists in Blue Mars do it all!
